A chill is in the air and winter is approaching quickly.  Is your wardrobe ready to keep you warm and fashionable?  If there’s any question in your mind, Shirley’s Designs & Alterations is here to steer you in the right direction. 

 First up: outer wear.  The elements have no chance against oversized puffies, capes with fur trim or military styled overcoats.  Moto jackets are back with a vengeance but with sleeker styling this go ‘round and shearling is showing up across the board.

 Next up: daywear and sweaters. Turtlenecks are back and formats include tunic, oversized, wide neck and form fitted. Worn over skinny jeans, thigh-high boots or under your favorite sleeveless dress, you may already have many of these gems tucked away in your closet.
 Follow that: the office. Gray is the new black. Playful yet sophisticated is the tone for work this winter. Herringbone jackets, flannel slacks and tweeded dresses are what’s trending and sure to be wardrobe staples for years to come.

Rounding it all out: formal. Floral, draped and caped. Shimmer, shine and feminine are on deck for your evenings out. Retro looks from the grandeur of the 40’s and the simple elegance of the 60’s are showing up, along with a “tip of the hat” to a classic Spanish influence. Nighttime will be fun-time this holiday season.
 Like those long-tucked away turtlenecks, you may already have many of these top trends at your fingertips. If you do, and find that they just need a “little something” to get them up to style, bring them by the shop for a quick appraisal. A little nip there and tuck here will most certainly get your winter 2016 wardrobe in full seasonal swing.
